Hilton Head Veterinary Clinics, Inc.

People often ask me why I became a veterinarian.  I don't think there was any single factor that influenced me, but I know it was my career dream since I was very young.  I can remember trying to pick classes in the eigth grade that would help me to get into vet school. One of my older brothers is a veterinarian and I'm sure he influenced me.  I have always believed in being an advocate for the weak and disadvantaged, so helping animals fight disease is a perfect fit.  I also love the fact that in medicine, every day is different.

I love developing relationships with our clients. Many of our clients have seen my life evolve from young father of  four to a grandfather of two.  Life has presented me with many challenges and adventures that I enjoy sharing with others for their amusement and benefit.  My staff always harrasses me that once someone gets me going I talk way too much.  I like teaching clients about their pet's problems so they can better understand and manage them.

I love being a veterinarian.  Even though I graduated from Colorado State University over 25 years ago, and I have practiced on Hilton Head for over 22 years, I am still ecstatic about our present and future.  I have practiced longer in this area than anyone else in the history of Hilton Head/Bluffton and I look forward to practicing for another 20 years.  With some luck, the family tradition will continue here.  My oldest daughter, Lindy, is a second year vet school student at Mississippi State University.  She vowed never to return to Hilton Head but she is showing some signs of weakness to her pledge.  Hopefully, in the spring of 2010 I will be announcing the addition of another Dr. Dixon to our practices.

I purchased the Mathews Drive practice in 1985.  I purchased the Palmetto Bay Road office in 1998.  I am in the process of building our new facility on Bluffton Parkway.  It is the culmination of all of my ideas from being in this business for overy 25 years.  It will add so many services and it will continue to establish us as the leaders in pet health care in this region.  It should be completed in the summer 2008.  I believe in offering our clients the most services, the best  and most convenient facilities, and the best value in pet care.  If you are one of our clients, thank you so much for your allowing us to care for your cherished furry family member(s).  If you are not yet a client, please come join us as we continue to grow.

Dr Lee Rosenbaum

We are very excited to announce the return of Dr Lee Rosenbaum. He owned the Palmetto Bay Rd location for 12 years prior to selling it to Dr Dixon on 1998. At that time he and his family left for Indonesia. After 3 years, he returned to the US. Since then he has resided and practiced in the Myrtle Beach area, where his wife's family is from.

Lee and his wife, Barbara, missed Hilton Head and were looking for an opportunuity to return. They are joined by the son, Hayden, and daughter Emma. Three other children are grown and living in different areas.

Please stop in to say Hello to Dr Rosenbaum and welcome him back to Hilton Head Veterinary Clinic.
